« Easing in her slender forearm for his pillow. »

Now has come the season of love, the month of courtly desires, the weeks building up to secret gifts and romantic dinners – now’s the time of Valentines and whether you partake in it or not, we thought we might ease your pain and shudders of finding a suited gift for the one (or ones…) you love.

Love is manifold, which is why we’ve decided to curate a very special Valentine’s Day selection, for all hearts, minds and most of all, for all love languages around.

PROLIXE – Quality time

Prolixe

Oliban, Rose, Tabacco

Eau de Parfum

Prolixe – which is French for prolix – means anyone that indulges in long-winded speeches or writing and that’s exactly how Prolixe smells: rich, extravagant, and fantabulous in its energetic twists and spins. It is a profusion of hot and cold spices, of Ginger and Cardamom mingling in a sepia-coloured scene, a banquet replete with ripe and dewy fruits, with fizzy drinks, cracked aromatics, with fumes of Incense and Tobacco and lavish Rose bouquets. There is laughter, joy and exuberance in Prolixe and this is the type of people meant to wear it. This fragrance doesn’t say “I love you” but rather shows it in a hundred ways, through the loving time you spend together. It oozes a gentleness and suavity that only calls for leaning into the countless pleasures of life. Overall, as buoyant and verbose as Prolixe is, its message is that “nothing’s as good if you don’t share it”.

FIDELIS – Acts of service

Fidelis

Saffron, Cumin, Rose, Amber, Oud

Eau de Parfum

Fidelis - from the Latin fide meaning faith - is a work around fidelity, around a love that always lasts and lovers that will not let go of each other. Fidelis smells at once bold and gentle, it is potent yet it is mellow, it is loud but never deafens. After a zingy opening of Cardamom and toasted Coffee, Fidelis unveils a profoundly touching accord of Rose and Saffron speckled with iced Raspberry. There is leather, there is strength and a subdued animality wafting from its base of Oud, Animalis and Ambergris – oh, Fidelis may seem too proud or shallow to bother with the treacly sweetness of love yet it is here and always will be; it will cling onto your skin till you fall asleep; and in-between its narcissisticly flamboyant sillage, there is a sweetness indeed – “you can’t not care about the things you actually care about”.

1876 – Physical touch

1876

Litchi, Moldavian Rose, Cinnamom, Sandalwood

Eau de Parfum

1876, the birth year of Mata Hari is sensuality incarnate. It doesn’t dawdle nor fiddle but goes straight to the point, luring you into its nets without being outwardly sexual, teetering on an edge instead. Through an almost prude opening of Orange and Bergamot, one descries a dancing silhouette coming towards you. Words are meaningless when love is a touch, helpless when there is naught but pure lust. You see their eyes burning with a desire to consume you – they say nothing, they seize you, caress you, kiss, bite, touch, pull and scratch you. The rawness of Carnation and Javanese Vetiver, the sweltering heat of Cumin and Cinnamon laced with demure shades of nutty Rose, pulpous Lychee and crystalline Violet are enough for you to succumb and start believing that love perhaps can do without words; that it is just a matter of two bodies being one and that you’d “rather be nowhere with them than anywhere without them”.

ROSAM – Words of affirmation

Rosam

Rose Petals, Saffron Flowers, Patchouli, Oud

Eau de Parfum

Rosam is an anchor, a haven, a murmur, a secret; a Rose so intense it has to glow behind a veil of pure Frankincense and tarry Oud, its beauty and worth known only to those it loves. Rosam is not extravagant, has nothing effusive, if anything it is introverted and mercurial: shades of silverine Rose thorns and dry twigs of Saffron drenched in an overdose of Patchouli shape the scent of silence and knowledge. Rosam is like this lover who knows, who knows your strengths and will always be here to remind them to you; the lover who sees you for who you truly are and will always have the right words when you’ll need them most and whisper them into your ear. It may not seem as amorous as others from an outside perspective; its austere and regal majesty may seem impressive or somewhat intimidating to most, yet you know their love to be real and lasting, for they will say it to you, in all possible ways, teaching us that we “shouldn’t be embarrassed about saying something nice”.

THIS IS NOT A BLUE BOTTLE 1/.3 – Gifts

This is not a blue bottle 1/.3

Rose, Saffron, Leather

Eau de Parfum

There is something rather obvious to 1/.3 that makes one think of gifts. Such love is unmistakable, impossible to miss or to misread. It comes, over and over and over again. It is unabashedly enamoured, it is passionate and shies not to show it. Whether it be through the playfully juicy tunes of its Orange overture or its heart of uppercut Rose, 1/.3 is clear as to how it feels and will make it known throughout the day. There is to it a vivid strength shown through leathery nuances of Saffron; there is a fire; there is a surprise despite its one-dimensional structure. As such, it never ceases to surprise and amaze, to catch you unawares and evoke in you a fiery sense of longing and wonder; it gives and gives itself fully without compromise, without second thoughts or hidden darkness, as if shouting that love is real, that love is now and that “we’re not just here for us, we’re here for others”.
